Product Description

Udimet 520 is a nickel-chromium-cobalt alloy. The addition of tungsten and molybdenum results in age hardening and strengthening of this alloy.

Udimet 520 is annealed at 1107 degrees Celsius (2025 degrees Fahrenheit) and then rapidly cooled in air. cold work

Standard cooling methods are used for cold forming Udimet 520. Although die life is limited, wear can be minimized by using heavy duty lubricants and soft die materials. Tooling is recommended during cold working to allow for free radii and clearances.

welding

Recommended welding processes for Udimet 520 include gas tungsten arc welding, gas metal arc welding and shielded metal arc welding. This alloy can be welded by common welding procedures and the welding surface should be free of paint, crayon marks or oil.

forging

Udimet 520 is malleable so it can be forged.

form

Since Udimet 520 has good ductility, Udimet 520 can be easily formed using traditional methods. In order to obtain good forming results, a powerful device is used to prevent embrittlement of this alloy at high temperatures.

machinability

Udimet 520 can be processed by conventional processing methods. The alloy has high strength, viscosity and work hardening properties. When grinding, turning or grinding, it is best to use a water-based coolant. Heavy lubricants are preferred when drilling, drilling, broaching or tapping. Work hardening and chatter of the alloy before the cutting process can be minimized by tools and heavy machining equipment.

Ageing

Udimet 520 is air hardened at three different temperatures.

Heat at 1107 degrees Celsius (2025 degrees Fahrenheit) for 4 hours and cool in air.

Heat at 843 degrees Celsius (1550 degrees Fahrenheit) for 24 hours and cool in air.

Heat at 760 degrees Celsius (1400 degrees Fahrenheit) for 16 hours and cool in air.

heat treatment

Udimet 520 can be hardened after heat treatment.

Scope of application

Udimet 520 is used in gas turbine hot section components and industrial applications where high quality high thermal strength is required.
