INCOLOY Alloy 926 (UNS N08926 / W. Nr. 1.4529 / INCOLOY Alloy 25-6MO) is a super austenitic stainless steel containing 6% molybdenum and reinforced by nitrogen additions. The nickel and chromium content of this alloy makes it resistant to a variety of corrosive environments. The alloy is particularly resistant to non-oxidizing acids such as sulfuric and phosphoric acid. High molybdenum content and nitrogen provide resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion, while copper increases resistance to sulfuric acid.
INCOLOY 926 alloy is a 6% molybdenum fully austenitic alloy with excellent corrosion resistance in a variety of corrosive, aqueous environments. It replaces traditional austenitic stainless steels (AISI 316 and 317), where their capabilities have reached their performance limits. Therefore, this alloy belongs to the category of "Super Austenitic Stainless Steels". It could also represent a cost-effective alternative to high-nickel alloys in certain marine and chemical processing environments.
The Cr content in Alloy926 (1.4529, N08926) super austenitic stainless steel is usually 14.0-18.0%, and the nickel content is 24.0-26.0%. Alloy926 (1.4529, N08926) alloy is a nickel-based alloy containing titanium and aluminum, and contains enough chromium to form and maintain a sufficient scale of chromium oxide to be protected at high temperature conditions, more than traditional chromium-nickel stainless steels such as 304 High temperature resistance; higher nickel content makes it more resistant to oxidation than standard 18-8 stainless steel, and its oxidation resistance is not inferior to more High grade alloys.
