Product Description

Incoloy 925 (Alloy 925, UNS N09925) is a nickel-iron-chromium alloy that significantly increases the strength of Incoloy 825 (Alloy 825, UNS N08825, 2.4858) while maintaining its good corrosion resistance, especially to sulfuric acid Corrosion resistance. It is provided in an aged state.

Incoloy 925 was introduced in 1982 as a development of Incoloy 825, which was originally developed in 1952 as an alloy for higher temperature applications with excellent acid resistance. It has proven particularly cost-effective due to its low nickel content, but its modest mechanical properties limit applications.

To increase the strength of the Inconel 825-based alloy, titanium and aluminum were added in a controlled manner. During the final heat treatment, they form very fine Ni3(Al,Ti) precipitates (gamma primes, '') throughout the alloy matrix. This age hardening is similar to Monel K500, Inconel 718 and Inconel 725 and greatly increases the hardness and strength of Inconel 925.

As a nickel-based alloy, Incoloy 925 exhibits good resistance to stress corrosion cracking and sulfide stress cracking in "sour" H2S environments for oil and gas applications and is therefore included in NACE MR0175. Therefore, common applications include downhole and wellhead assemblies, hangers, joints and packers.

The chromium content of Incoloy 925 ensures good overall corrosion resistance in oxidizing environments, with the addition of molybdenum for enhanced pitting resistance, resulting in a Pitting Resistance Equivalent Number (PREN) of 26. Its copper content is thought to improve resistance to sulphuric acids, replicated in Ferralium 255, which has a 2% copper content. This balanced corrosion resistance in many aggressive environments is exploited in valve components, pump shafts, fasteners and marine applications.

The combination of corrosion resistance and strength makes Incoloy 925 a potential replacement for the highly alloyed and expensive Inconel 718. It is increasingly specified by several major oil companies and original equipment manufacturers to reduce project costs.

The Cr content in Incoloy925 (N08925) nickel-based alloy is usually 19.5-23.50%, and the nickel content is 42.0-26.0%. Incoloy925 (N08925) alloy is a nickel-based alloy containing molybdenum and copper, which has good hot and cold workability.
