Product Description

GH159 alloy is a new type of high-strength multi-phase cobalt-based superalloy developed on the basis of foreign multi-phase cobalt-based superalloy (MP alloy).

Its main feature is that the cold deformation first induces the cross-net-like distribution of sheet-related ε phase in the face-centered cubic matrix to prevent the long-range movement of dislocations and strengthens, and then precipitation and dispersion of Ni3X phase after aging treatment to supplement strengthening.

The alloy has comprehensive properties such as ultra-high strength, good plasticity and toughness, and high stress corrosion resistance, and can still maintain its high-strength characteristics at a high temperature of 650 °C.

The alloy can be widely used not only for high-temperature fastening bolts and other parts of aero-engines, but also for ultra-high-strength fasteners for aircraft serving in stress-corrosion environments (such as marine atmospheric environments).

The main variety supplied is cold drawn bars.

Heat treatment system

Solution treatment at 1040~1055ºC, 4~8h, water cooling + 48%±1% cold drawing deformation at room temperature + aging treatment at 650~675ºC, 4~4.5h, air cooling.

It can produce cold-drawn bars of d5~25mm, and the state is cold-drawn.

The alloy adopts the double production process of vacuum induction and vacuum arc remelting.

Application overview and special requirements

The alloy is mainly used for fasteners of aero-engines. It has stable performance at 600°C and can be used for a long time. It is the material for aero-engine fasteners with the best comprehensive performance in 2018.

The alloy is mainly strengthened by cold deformation induced ε phase with a large number of gateway distributions. Therefore, the process parameters of cold drawing deformation should be strictly controlled. If the deformation is too small, the strength is insufficient; if the deformation is too large, the strength increases, but the plasticity decreases. Practice has proved that the alloy has better comprehensive properties when the amount of cold deformation is controlled at the lower limit.
