The nickel-molybdenum alloy Hastelloy B-2 has extremely low carbon and silicon content, which reduces the precipitation of carbon and other impurity phases in the welding heat-affected zone, so its welds also have sufficient corrosion resistance. Hastelloy B-2 has good corrosion resistance in reducing media, such as hydrochloric acid solutions of various temperatures and concentrations. It also has good corrosion resistance in a medium-concentration sulfuric acid solution (or a certain amount of chloride ions). It can also be used in acetic acid and phosphoric acid environments. Alloy materials have the best corrosion resistance only when they are in a suitable metallographic state and pure crystal structure. It has a wide range of applications in the fields of chemistry, petrochemicals, energy manufacturing and pollution control, especially in industries such as sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, phosphoric acid, and acetic acid.

Hastelloy B-2 process performance and requirements:

1. It should be heated to the required temperature as quickly as possible. The thermal processing temperature range is 1160ºC~900ºC.

2. The average grain size of the alloy is closely related to the degree of deformation of the forging and the final forging temperature.

3. The adhesion of the alloy surface oxide, oxidation color and welding slag around the weld is stronger than stainless steel. It is recommended to use fine-grained abrasive belt or fine-grained grinding wheel for grinding.

4. The alloy should be machined after annealing. Due to the high work hardening rate of the material, it is advisable to use a lower cutting speed and heavy feed than processing low-alloy standard austenitic stainless steel to cut into the cold work hardened surface. the following.
