1. GH4098 application overview and characteristics

GH4098 alloy is used to make high temperature parts such as turbine blades, heat shields, tail nozzles and afterburners of aviation and missile engines. Similar grades have been used in foreign countries for engine baffles, stiffeners, aircraft fixing parts, guide vanes and other cold stamped and welded parts with a working temperature of 1000 °C.

GH4098 is a Ni-Cr-based precipitation hardening deformed superalloy. The long-term working temperature can reach 1000 ° C. Elements such as tungsten, molybdenum, chromium and cobalt are added to the alloy for solid solution strengthening, and elements such as aluminum, titanium and niobium are added to form γ phase Precipitation strengthening phase, adding trace amounts of boron and cerium elements to strengthen the grain boundary, the comprehensive strengthening effect is obvious. The alloy has high room temperature and high temperature strength, excellent oxidation resistance, good hot working and welding performance. The main products of GH4098 are hot-rolled bars, hot-rolled sheets, cold-rolled sheets and strips.

7. GH4098 process performance and requirements

Forming process and properties: GH4098 alloy can undergo hot deformation and cold deformation, the deformation temperature range is 950 ºC ~ 1180 ºC, air cooling after deformation. The charging temperature of the ingot shall not be higher than 1000°C, and the heating temperature shall be 1140°C~1180°C; the starting rolling temperature shall not be lower than 900°C, and the final rolling temperature shall not be lower than 1050°C; Annealing in the middle of rolling ≥ 1000 ºC, air cooling.

GH4098 welding performance: The welding effect of argon arc welding is good, and spot welding, roll welding and electron beam welding can also be used. It is recommended to use the base metal wire as the filler material, and the same type of alloy can also be used as the filler material. For welding with dissimilar materials, different types of alloys can be used as filler materials for argon arc welding and automatic argon arc welding.

Heat treatment process of parts: In order to eliminate cold work hardening, intermediate heat treatment is recommended: quenching at 1080 ° C ~ 1120 ° C, the cooling method depends on the thickness of the section, the thickness is less than 2mm, air cooling is used, and the thickness is greater than 2mm in water or under a water spray device cool down.

Machining and grinding performance: GH4098 alloy can be satisfactorily machined.
